This process has been very different from my other directing
experiences. I had to recover from a loss but celebrate a huge win. I had to
overcome the obstacles with my set and the many, many props that my show requires.
I really, truly have grown in this process and learned to accept the things
that I can’t change or control. This process is not about being perfect or having
the best set or even having the best show. It is about coming together and putting
on a performance produced, acted and written by students.
We are ready for company runs! We had our last rehearsal on
Friday and now it is time to show everyone how hard we have been working. I am
so proud of everyone who came together for this show. Lucy has been the most
amazing to work with from day one. I can tell how excited she is for this
production and how much this experience has meant to her too. I loved working a
long side her and she made me feel less alone in this process. My actors have
been amazing as well! Students live a busy life and for them to put some of
their life on hold for me and Lucy has been amazing. I love their dedication and
excitement about the show! I hope everyone watching can feel that too.
As we go into our last final weeks, I want to just enjoy
every moment. I am graduating in a month and this festival will be my last imprint
on Oregon State. I could not be prouder with my last show! Let’s do this!
